Essential Oils have been used for thousands of years for their healing and medicinal properties. In fact, the use of essential oils is mentioned extensively throughout the bible.
Essential oils are powerful plant extracts and can be used in a variety of ways. One of my favorite essential oils is lavender. I just love the smell and its calming properties.
When you purchase lavender in its pure, therapeutic-grade form from a reputable company, it can be applied topically, diffused, or taken orally.
While lavender has many amazing uses, I’ve listed 5 ways you can use lavender in your daily life.
1. Promote Sleep
Lavender has excellent calming properties which make it a powerful sleep aid. If you struggle with falling asleep, try rubbing a few drops of lavender on your palms and on your pillow when you go to bed. You can also diffuse lavender in your bedroom while you’re sleeping.
2. Rashes and burns
Lavender is very soothing and healing to the skin. For burns, you can put 2-3 drops of lavender on the area to decrease discomfort. Lavender can also be used to heal rashes and reduce itching. Just apply 2-3 drops to the area.
As mentioned earlier, lavender is extremely calming. To relieve stress and anxious feelings, simply rub a few drops of lavender on the bottom of your feet. This will produce a calming effect on your body.
4. Seasonal Threats
Lavender is very effective at alleviating seasonal and environmental threats that may lead to congestion, runny nose, and itchy/watery eyes. Simply put a little lavender on the upper lip right under the nose and in the nose. You can also rub a drop of lavender in your palms and inhale deeply. Diffusing lavender in your home will also help reduce symptoms.
5. Skin Irritations
Since lavender provides soothing and healing properties, it can be a great treatment for any type of skin irritation. Simply mix several drops of lavender with a carrier oil such as jojoba oil or coconut oil. Then apply topically on the affected area.
To enjoy the full benefits of essential oils without side effects, I recommend you use only certified pure, therapeutic-grade oils.Do not purchase oils from your health food store and think they are okay to ingest. Often times, they are distilled with chemicals that could be toxic to your body.
Personally, I use doTERRA essential oils because they provide the purest, most potent oils on the market. All oils are sourced from their indigenous region and the plants are grown using beyond organic methods. Additionally, we third-party test every batch of oil to ensure there are no impurities and to guarantee the correct therapeutic markers are present.
