Does stress rule your life? What is the number one stressor in your life?

Your health?

Your job?

Your to-do list?

Is your stress caused by worry, fear, or doubt?

I read a devotional recently that was talking about how to stop stressing and I’m sharing the 10 reasons you must let go of worry.

The number one stressor in my life is worry.

I’ve written about worry before because it’s something I struggle with and work on daily.

Here’s what I’ve learned and continue to learn…

  1. Worry robs you of happiness.
  2. Worry is lack of faith.
  3. Worry is unreasonable because it exaggerates the problem and does not work to change anything.
  4. Worry is unnatural – there are no born worriers. It’s something we learn.
  5. Worry is unhealthy. It causes stress and overtime and can lead to chronic disease.
  6. Worry is unhelpful. It cannot change the past or control the future.
  7. The only thing worry changes is you and me. It makes us miserable.
  8. Worry is unnecessary. God is in control. If we root our faith in this truth, then worry disappears.
  9. Worry is pointless.
  10. The battle of stress is all in your mind. Whatever you put into your mind will come out in your life.

What do you allow into your mind?

Become aware of your thoughts. You choose what you allow into your mind.

Here are 7 questions you can ask yourself to evaluate the quality of your thoughts:

  1. Is it good?
  2. Is it true?
  3. Is it honorable?
  4. Is it right?
  5. Is it pure?
  6. Is it respected?
  7. Is it worthy of praise?

Tips for overcoming worry

I’m trying to be more aware of my thoughts, so when worry creeps in, I can acknowledge it and let it go.

Some helpful tools for releasing worry are prayer, journaling, talking it out, and tapping.

I’ve found memorizing certain bible verses to be helpful for me. Here’s one of my favorites:

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” – Philippians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬
