Feeling Stressed? Breathe Less [Breath Hack #3]

In this post you'll learn a third breath hack in the breath hack series so you can reduce stress, overwhelm and anxiety.

If you haven't checked out breath hack one and two, where I shared two other powerful techniques that are super easy to do, just by harnessing the power of your breath, to reduce your stress, go do that now.

And then come back and watch the video below to learn this super easy and effective technique.  The key to remember is whenever you're feeling stressed, slow your breath and breathe less.

By breathing less I mean fewer breaths per minute. The technique I'm sharing in this video is really powerful for a number of reasons, which I'll touch on.

This technique is one you will likely practice when you are by yourself. Maybe you are in your office, in your car, in your bed, or in the shower. Or if you're bold and brave and courageous, and you don't care what other people think, then you can do this out in public as well.

You might get some odd looks, but that's okay!!

This is a vocal toning technique also known as chanting. Vocal toning is a powerful way to reduce stress, calm anxiety and reduce overwhelm so you feel more centered, relaxed, clear and focused.

Vocal toning has some other amazing benefits. Because when we're toning, we are creating a vibration with our voice.

And this vibration really helps activate different energy centers in the body and really help bring us back into alignment. And so, I'm gonna give you a couple of techniques in this video.

We are going to practice chanting the sound of AUM or OM. This sound is 3 syllables: Ahhhh, Ooohh, Mmmmm.

With the "Ahhhh" sound, we are activating the energy centers in our abdomen. Your root, pelvic area, digestive system, etc.

The "Ooohh" sound activates our heart center. It helps open your heart to love and gratitude. What suit our hearts in our super powerful energy center. So making that sound really focuses on the heart center.

The "Mmmmm" sound is humming. You make this sound with your lips sealed and mouth closed. By humming, you are activating your master glands, your pituitary gland, your pineal gland, which helps regulate hormones in the body. And humming is an incredible way to boost nitric oxide in the body.

There are several ways to boost nitric oxide and I've made videos on this before so go back and watch those. Humming is super easy thing to do not only for calming stress, but also boosting nitric oxide.

Vocal toning is a powerful practice. It stimulates your parasympathetic nervous system (rest, digest, restore mode) and your vagus nerve.

And as always, you'll inhale through your nose. On your exhale, you'll make a tone. Let your tone extend for as long as you can. Repeat this for 5 minutes.
