Any demand or threat that your body receives can lead to immense stress. It can be caused by pressuring events, sudden negative moments, or unhappy circumstances. All these can be short-term or long-term. Despite the burdens, it is important to keep a positive attitude through it all. Here are a few tips that could help you retain your optimism!

Use essential oils! Incorporate pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils to help boost your mood, reduce stress, and promote positivity. Oils have powerful emotional and mood-balancing properties to help you achieve a healthy headspace quickly. Try lavender, orange, roman chamomile, frankincense, or ylang ylang to boost your brain function and alter your mood! A study from Wonkwang University shows this type of aromatherapy is indeed effective in reducing stress levels!

Practice mindfulness. Once the mood is set because of essential oils, try strategies like yoga, body recognition, and other forms of meditation. This buddhist philosophy is scientifically a great way of battling stress and depression, as supported by a study of nurse practitioners.

Another way to keep a positive attitude despite the stress is to listen to soothing music. Instrumental and slow-paced tunes are helpful in calming the mind and upbeat tunes may help you manage tasks productively.

Give yourself some me-time! What do you love to do? What makes you feel relaxed? Take time to do those things! It’s all based on your preference and what works for you. Some prefer a personal pamper night with a bath or massage. Others opt to write a journal entry about their day before going to bed. The point is to treat yourself once in a while and engage in self-care practices, whether it’s physically, mentally, or spiritually. Put it on your calendar and make time for yourself.

Exercise. This activity encourages better mental health since it aids in releasing chemicals called endorphins that are responsible for positive emotions. It also leads to better body image and increased confidence.

Additionally, it is important to examine your values and live by them. Use them to set goals and maintain a positive outlook. Manifest your kindness not only to others but also to yourself. A simple self-talk or positive affirmations in the mirror will change your whole day. Empowerment is key!

Self-care not only entails me-time, healthy habits, and self-love, it is also about gratitude and accepting the things you cannot change. Part of examining your values is concentrating on the things that you can manage and surrendering the things you can’t. Spend time in prayer, surrender your struggles, and have faith that God is taking care of you. Take time to recognize something positive in your life that you can focus on and feel grateful for.

Socialize more often. While we’ve mentioned tips that could help in giving you a positive attitude to yourself, it is also necessary to maintain a positive attitude towards others! By talking out your problems and simply interacting nicely with people, you are able to have an outlet of all your bottled up emotions. Social support is really a great advantage! There is strength in vulnerability.

Lastly, get plenty of rest. Take 5-minute breaks by closing your eyes and breathing deeply. This calming action slows the heart rate and lowers blood pressure, as told by Psychologist Judith Tutin. Before getting back on track, make sure you’re also hydrated.

All these tips may be easier said than done but you have to remember that the stress you’re experiencing is merely a natural defense of the mind from perceived danger! Part of our response becomes physical, so it is important to gain control of your mental reaction as it affects your cognitive and behavioral aspects. These reliable coping mechanisms make it easier to avoid all the worries and negative thinking. A healthy lifestyle is a bonus to your positive attitude so you can be a champion in combating stress!
