Wild orange essential oil has quickly become one of my all time favorite oils. It’s such a beneficial oil to support your overall health. I used it for the first time only about 3 months ago, but I’m obsessed. I literally use this amazing citrus oil every day.
Not only does it have such a refreshing, energizing fragrance, but it offers numerous health benefits.
Like other citrus oils, such as lemon, lime, and grapefruit, this essential oil is extracted from the rind of the fruit.
Historically, oranges, particularly bitter oranges, have been used for palpitation, scurvy, jaundice, bleeding, heartburn, relaxed throat, prolapse of the uterus and the anus, diarrhea, and blood in the feces.
When used aromatically either by diffusing or simply inhaling, orange oil is calming and uplifting to the mind and body. So, in times of stress, this is a great oil to try.
You can also apply the oil topically to the bottom of your feet, back of your neck, or to the ears. Citrus oils can cause sun sensitivity. So, when using topically, be sure to avoid direct sunlight for 12 hours for the area of the body you applied the oil to.
If you choose to use orange oil internally, make sure you’re using a Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade oil that is approved for internal use.
This is how I typically use wild orange. I add 1-2 drops to my glass water bottle every morning, and I drink it throughout the day.
Not only is it cleansing and detoxifying to my system, but it gives my water great flavor, which makes it easier for me to stay adequately hydrated throughout the day.
NOTE: Citrus oils will eat through plastic, which will cause toxins to leach into your water, so opt for glass. If you’re using citrus oils to detoxify your body, you don’t want to add more toxins, right? J
I also love diffusing wild orange. One of my favorite combinations is frankincense and wild orange. It is so refreshing and uplifting. Other oils that blend well with orange include cinnamon, geranium, and lavender.
