Hormones play a huge role in your day-to-day life, and when they’re imbalanced, you can experience anything from mood swings and irritability to weight gain and digestive issues. Hormone imbalance can also cause fatigue, anxiety and a low libido. That’s why it’s so crucial to keep your hormones balanced, and a great way to do that is through the use of essential oils.
Now, not all essential oils are great for balancing hormones, that’s why I want to dive deeper into this topic and really share which oils you should be using if hormonal balance is your goal.
To start us off, let’s look at one of my favorites—Lavender.
If you’ve ever gone from feeling fine to suddenly feeling depressed and not knowing why, it could be a sign of hormone imbalance. Lavender—one of the most-used essential oils—can help with that. It helps decrease stress and depression, calm stomach pain, relieve headaches, and relieve abdominal cramps associated with PMS and menstruation.
Another great oil to use for hormonal balance is Clary Sage.
Clary Sage is one of the best oils you can use to help balance your estrogen and progesterone. It’s most effective in easing pain caused by menstrual cramps. But it also helps to dramatically decrease the body’s cortisol and improve thyroid levels. This oils helps improve your overall mood, and helps you relax and get a good night’s sleep. It’s a must-have for every woman.
Next up, Ylang Ylang.
Ylang Ylang lessens tension and stress and promotes a positive outlook. It’s a great oil for anyone suffering from hormone imbalance, as it has the ability to combat mood swings and depression. Hair and skin products frequently use ylang ylang for its scent and nourishing, protective properties.
Thyme is another great oil, and it’s not just for use the kitchen.
Studies have shown that Thyme essential oil has the ability to improve progesterone production in both men and women. Low progesterone levels have been linked with infertility, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and depression as well as other imbalanced hormones. Thyme also supports natural hormone levels to offset the effects of PMS. And it’s a great oil to support your immune system, which can help if your stress levels have compromised your overall health.
Next to last, Bergamot oil.
Bergamot oil has the ability to cleanse and purify the skin, calm the mind, and uplift your mood. In fact, Bergamot essential oil can positively affect even serious stress-induced disorders, many from hormonal imbalance. Bergamot has also been known to alleviate anxious feelings, reduce heart rate and blood pressure, and lower the body’s stress response.
And finally, ClaryCalm—the ultimate hormone balancing blend.
Comprised of most of the oils listed above, ClaryCalm is designed to provide a calming, soothing effect during the course of a woman’s menstrual cycle. Whether you’re experiencing a disruption or lack of balance in your emotions due to your menstrual cycle, ClaryCalm will soothe those emotions and help restore balance to your mood. And since ClaryCalm is comprised of clary sage, lavender, ylang ylang, and bergamot, it’s got the power of each of these oils, which makes it the ultimate hormone balancing blend.
Now, I’d love to hear from you—what hormone balancing oils have you tried? Did you find that one oil worked really well over another? Please share your experiences in the comments.
